1. An appropriate photograph. It can be full-length, but preferably
head and shoulders. If you have concerns that you're entering a beauty
competition then set them aside. It's not a glamour show; it's about
taking a pride in yourself and your job. A good recruiter wants to
understand how you present yourself. Your photo, plus the content and
style of your CV starts to build a profile of who you are.2. Page
numbers. Whether your CV is one page short or four pages long, make
use of the Headers and Footers option. Include the equivalent of...
Page 1 of 1 or... Page 1 of 4. The Recruiter may print it out, or they
might not. If they do, then you've made it easy for them to start
reading about who you are - which moves you one step closer to
reaching their shortlist.3. Include your name and telephone number at
the bottom of each page. Keep them out of the way, but readily
visible. The Recruiter may get to the bottom of the page and decide to
call you. Make it easy for them to invite you for an interview... and
by the way.... have you listened to your own voicemail message
lately?4. Did you enjoy those 3 years you worked with Widget & Sons?
Brilliant...! But who are they and what sector do they work in? If
you're been asked to apply with experience in specialist areas, then
don't assume that the Recruiter will have heard of all your previous
employers. Help them out; you do want the job don't you? Widget &
Sons, the airline operation of Mr Bigshot the Media Mogul, for
example, helps to confirm your VIP experience.5. An introductory
Profile in less than 100 words is your opportunity to paint a picture
of who you are. Aviation is a global industry, with modern-media
hiring methods and you need to convey that you're the person they
need. How many books or magazines have you returned to the shelf when
the opening words didn't grab your attention? For example... A Sales
Manager who understands Client needs and who then delivers beyond the
limit of Company expectations... might get a Recruiter reading
further... A Sales Manager who works well on his own or in a team...
might not be quite so enticing.
