There are many different procedures used by panic attack victims to
reduce their anxiety level without medication. Everybody is different
and what will help one person may do nothing at all for others.
Studying and trying different ideas seems to be the best way of
finding genuine help.Something that starts a panic attack is called a
trigger. It is very important for sufferers to recognize their own
triggers. If a particular setting or event is going to increase
anxiety it's best to stay away from it.An example of a high stress
situation to avoid might be just having to shop in a crowded store. If
a victim knows this has caused a lot of stress in the past then going
shopping early or late when less people are shopping would be wise.
Thinking and planning ahead can decrease the chance of encountering
stress or even a trigger.Sometimes this is not possible and the
situation must be addressed "head on" with self-confidence and maybe
through the use of relaxation methods or exercises. For instance, if
you have no choice but to drive on the interstate and you know it is
very stressful, then you should figure out how to do it with the
smallest amount of stress. Maybe you should drive at a different time
of day or perhaps put something on the radio that will keep your mind
focused on something else.Physical relaxing methods do seem to be a
helpful stress relief tool for some sufferers. But many are not helped
by them. They include common exercise such as walking or running to
keep the body fit and to relieve common stress. Everyone faces a
certain amount of stress and remaining active will keep it from
growing into more serious anxiety.Breathing exercises are tried
sometimes when stress is high to settle the mind down and make the
body relax. But they are not helpful for a high percentage of
sufferers. Also, additional physical and mental exercises such as
meditation and yoga can help in relaxing and anxiety relief for some
sufferers.
