In the age of VH1's Behind the Music and E True Hollywood Stories,
the public has had the esteem pleasure of seeing how some of our most
beloved celebrities made their way to the top of the entertainment
world. Many of the most famous actors, singers and dancers started off
with very little, but their passions and aspirations fueled their
drive to step out on faith to chase their dreams.Do you have a dollar
and dream? Well, if you're inkling to make that move to Hollywood or
New York City to pursue a career in entertainment, this article may be
just the nudge you need to step out on faith and make it happen.Do
Your Homework. Although you're about to make a spontaneous move, doing
a little bit of research before you relocate will not ruin your story
to stardom any bit. Research the record labels, acting schools, or
casting agencies in the city you plan on moving to before you go. Find
out what it is they require before they will see you. Do you need a
demo tape, head shot or portfolio? Find out where these places are
located and if there are lodging amenities near by. This way you will
not have to worry about a long commute when you're out meeting and
greeting. After you've secured a place to stay, be sure to have your
movers bring your things to your new abode on schedule so you make the
most of your time.
Be Persistent. It's important to hope for the best, but be prepared to
endure trials. To survive in the entertainment industry, you have to
have tough skin. With all the sacrifices you're making to actualize
your goals, you can't be easily discouraged. Be consistent and
persistent in your efforts. If you become a common face at the record
label or casting agency, you will have a better chance of getting the
opportunities you seek, so stick with it.
Have a Support System. Let the people closest to you know what your
plans are. You'll need a reliable support system while you're working
on your goals. Whether their support is monetary or emotional their
help will help you succeed.
Save Some Money Before You Move. Be smart. You will have to care for
yourself while you are away, so try to save as much as you can before
you move. It may take a while to get acclimated to your new town and
if you haven't secured a job, then you'll need funds to live off of in
the meantime. You will also incur some expenses before you relocate
and you'll need to purchase moving company insurance to secure your
belongings, so be as prepared as possible before you move.
