Stainless Steel Shelves of the Future

Technology is moving so rapidly the gigabyte is about to become
obsolete and we just learned about it a few years ago. As a nation we
are literally racing toward a completely amazing looking future. If
you think some of these inventions are wacky, just think how crazy
people thought flying a man into outer space sounded to our
grandparents, then we went beyond that and landed one on the moon.
Behold the Stainless steel shelves of the future!1. Levitating shelves
- The magic of these shelves is that they will hover impossibly in the
air with no strings, or levers to speak of. The trick will use a new
form of electromagnet. As energy technology becomes more advanced we
will see many new and exciting uses for discoveries as they find their
way into our daily lives. The shelf would hover because your floor
would have been treated with a magnetic, translucent nano-spray. When
the house was "on" the floor would be automatically activated causing
the opposing poles of the magnetized metal to push against each other,
causing them to float in the air. You could simply raise and lower the
shelf using a remote or a built in floor pedal that would intensify or
decrease the current to adjust the shelf height. How cool would a
levitating stainless steel prep table be?2. The self-cleaning shelf -
The self-cleaning shelf would be a hit for the homeowner. Anything
that eases the cleaning is sure to be popular in any home of the
future. The self-cleaning properties of the shelf would lie in its
active barrier layer coating. The great thing about this shelf would
be that the coating would never rub off because it would be a property
of the metal.Like the stainless steel shelves of today, the metal
would be designed to create an impermeable barrier when exposed to
oxygen. Since we are unlikely to run out of that any time soon, it
would last forever. The reason it would be self-cleaning would be its
powerful jolt option button. You could just give the shelf a few taps
to knock of dust and other small particles but if it needed a deeper
clean a jolt of electricity would cause the shelf to instantly
reorganize its outer structure, therefore making a brand new surface.
The mess that was once on the shelf would simply slide or crumble of
the shelf with a quick puff of air.3. Intelligent stainless steel
shelves - Believe it or not we are very close to this already. With a
refrigerator that reminds you when a favorite food item is low
already, it is easy to imagine a shelf that talks to you. The great
thing about these shelves would be that they would collect all the
information they need by tapping into the web and following your every
move. They would be able to fill themselves by ordering online when a
quantity became too low, and prioritize the orders by the allowance
you gave them. They would constantly scan the web for the best deals
and most trusted providers when making purchases for you and would
probably do a better job at buying you a birthday gift than your best
friend.
