Whenever I ask this question, most people answer yes! Have you ever
turned down more money? No, you won't have to ask me twice! What is
happiness anyway? People's emotional well-being - happiness -
increases along with their income up to about $75,000, researchers
report in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. As your
income increases, your happiness or feeling of well-being increases up
to a point. What makes you happy? Is it walking on the beach, playing
with your kids or grandkids, or seeing a great movie? Do you have
meaningful goals? Do you feel appreciated at work? Is your work
rewarding? Do you have good friends and a supportive family? Are you a
happy person? Do you greet people with a smile, a good morning or a
genuine thank you when appropriate? Do you exercise? Are you generous
with your time to friends, charity or church? These actions will make
you happy and have a more meaningful life. Happy people attract other
happy people and help to make you more successful. Thinking money will
make you happy or solve your problems is false. Money buys things not
happiness! Lack of money can make you unhappy. If you do not have
enough money for food, a place to live or clothes, you certainly will
feel unhappy. Having a bigger house or nicer car will not make you
happier, but it will use up your available money. You can read the
