Copper Deficiency and Denture Creams

According to sales numbers, some 36 million Americans wear some form
of dentures. Most of these people rely on some form of bonding cream
to keep their replacement teeth in place. Many of the denture-cream
products on the market employ zinc as a bonding agent, sticking the
palette of the artificial teeth to the gum line.Unfortunately, there
have been a number of health problems linked to zinc-based denture
creams. Many of these creams can lead to zinc poisoning, which in turn
leads to copper deficiency - a potentially serious problem which can
have enormous repercussions on an individual's health. What Is Copper
Deficiency? The short answer is: it's just what it sounds like. Copper
is one of many important minerals that the body needs to run properly.
However, if the body doesn't get enough of it - or is deprived of it -
there can be serious repercussions to the immune system.Often a sign
of anemia or pancytopenia, it can also be caused by zinc poisoning and
a number of other ailments. Without proper medical treatment, a
deficiency of copper can result in the following health
problems:Suppressed immune system - and longer healing times
More pronounced signs of the aging process (wrinkles, etc)
Chronic fatigue and tiredness
If you have noticed any of these symptoms, it may be important to
speak to a doctor - especially if you wear dentures and use creams to
keep them in place. Quick treatment and discontinuing the use of
adhesive cream may be the best way to prevent further health problems
before they occur. You cannot be too careful when it comes to your
health.
