Great Nightlife Near Edinburgh Hotels

Edinburgh is one of Europe's most interesting old cities, full of
history to the chagrin of some who might feel it is something of an
open air museum. However the city has evolved socially and is very
cosmopolitan with three universities and a thriving business and arts
scene. Visitors to the city can hear the deafening sound of the guns
going off at Edinburgh castle at one o clock or hear the deafening
roar of the crowds at one of the city's two top flight football clubs,
close to some of the best Edinburgh hotels.Nightlife in Edinburgh is
excellent and there is a wide choice of venues and genres to choose
from. Many of the clubs in the centre of town can be found in the
cavernous basements of some of the city's old buildings. The Caves and
the Jazz bar are two such venues where clubbers can enjoy a nice
relaxed atmosphere before heading off to one of the more mainstream
oriented venues like the ever popular Po Na Na or the plush Opal
Lounge on George Street. The main attraction in Edinburgh is the city's
800 year old castle. A miniature historical city in itself the castle
has a number of things to interests visitors including the old palace,
birthplace of king James VI, home to the mythical stone of destiny and
the famous gatehouse and Portcullis gate. The royal mile has a number
of old and new visitor attractions, the most notable and controversial
being the new Scottish parliament building. The choice of Edinburgh
hotels is vast and ranges from good budget hotels to the most opulent
hotels guests could wish to stay in. For an excellent three-star the
Holiday Inn Express in the heart of the city centre is ideal and looks
much smarter than its price would suggest, the hotel has a modest
entrance on a grand Georgian terrace. The royal Terrace hotel is a
good four -star with an interesting variation of suites, some of which
are imaginative to say the least. For visitors planning the trip of a
lifetime the Sheraton Grand Hotel would be the hotel of choice. The
five-star hotel has views of the castle, a choice of excellent
restaurants to rival the finest in the city centre and an excellent
spa for downtime between museums and evenings out. For fitness
fanatics there are great facilities, including a gym that looks
strikingly like a deck from the Starship USS Enterprise with its
ambient blue ceiling dome, the Sheraton is one of the most opulent
Edinburgh hotels.
