Whitney Houston, one of all time's greatest singers immortalized a
song that is synonymous with a Biblical scripture describing the world
as being loved by God in the gospel of John. Her first line "I believe
the children are our future," strongly advocates the power of the
youth in making a difference in our world today. Today's youth, if
guided and nurtured holistically can make this world a better place to
live. They hold in their hands the future of this world.True enough,
according to surveys, the children of today seem to experience so much
pressure that somehow they have the tendency to lose identity along
the way. Many young people do not know who they are. When they
experience a feeling of loss and animosity, more often than not, they
would fall prey to fangs of wrong influence. That seems to be a simple
start, and yes it is, but like snake venom, it works underneath. You
would not know how strong it has hit you until it begins to manifest
itself, and it when does, its almost too late. Most of our youth are
imprisoned in emotional cages that need people who are armored with
love and sincerity to fight side by side with them. The addiction that
a young man is struggling against is deeply rooted in something else.
The behavior is mostly the surface. Even if you deal with the
behavior, if you do not effectively deal with the root of the
behavior, a recurrence is just looming around the corner. A gender
confusion issue is not the problem in itself; there might be an
underlying cause for the misbehavior. The behavior is often a late
predictor of the true problem that young people experience. That is why
a strong relational bond existing between brothers should exist,
between a son and a father or a daughter and a mother. Simple late
snacks together in the dining are should not be taken for granted.
Shared dinner often have very positive results in building a lasting
and healthy relationship within the family.Sad to say, everything
starts and ends with the family. It's not called the basic unit of the
society for nothing. Kids are borne in the family and when they
mature, the family still where they come back to whether things have
gone right or wrong. The other sad reality is that most of the
prevalent issued that plague today's young often have roots that go
back to where they come from. So, what is the one thing that addresses
these perennial problems? The answer is love: love that stays when all
has left, one that believes when all else suspects, one that believes
when all else loses faith, one that pursues when all else surrenders.
The love of a father and mother to a son; of a brother to a sister; of
a son to a mother--- is the greatest love of all.
