Artistic and inspirational wall quotes is one of the newest trends
in wall decor. They can add everything from clever sayings, family
values, inspiration and appropriate sentiments to any room. They are
usually made of vinyl so they are very easy to apply and even easier
to remove.Applying your vinyl wall quotes:1. If your quotes came
rolled, flatten them out by setting some heavy books (hardbound books
without any bumps are recommended) on the decals.2. The decals will
either have a white or a clear tape cover on the front and a white
backing paper at the back. Using a squeegee, drag it firmly over the
tape cover to ensure the words are sticking on the tape.3. Wipe the
surface of the wall with a cloth to make sure it is clean and dry.4.
Arrange the words and phrases according to your design then tape the
corners of each word using a masking tape to hold it in place. You
might want to use a long ruler and level to make sure the decals are
properly aligned. Adjust and re-tape your words until they are
straight.5. Tape the top of each word along the entire length of the
decal then flip the lettering up, with the tape as your hinge. Peel
the backing paper and carefully put the word back down to avoid any
wrinkles. Do this only when you are ready to apply the decal.6. Using
the squeegee, drag it over the decal firmly until all the letters are
affixed properly. Remove the masking tape then slowly peel the clear
tape cover by pulling it back towards the wall. If part of a letter
lifts back as you pull it, push back the tape and rub some more on
that spot, then continue peeling. Repeat the last two steps for each
word.Make sure your walls are clean and that you don't apply the
decals onto freshly painted walls. The vinyl will not adhere
properly, so if you just painted, you want to allow about three weeks
for the paint to settle before putting up your stickers. So, how do you
remove the wall quotes?1. Pull up a corner of each word using your
fingernail or tweezers and gently pull off the lettering in a downward
motion.2. If the quotes have been up for a long time, you can smear a
thin layer of mayonnaise all over the decals to soften the glue. Let
it sit for a couple of minutes then wipe it off and try peeling the
stickers again.3. For walls with wood finish, use a blow dryer on low
setting and run it over the decals for several minutes to release the
glue, then remove the stickers. If there is residue left on the wall,
scrub the surface using a cloth dabbed in little cooking oil until the
adhesive comes off. Do not use any sharp objects when removing from
wood as this may scratch the surface.
