The interactive whiteboard resources are one of the new methods of
presenting data, replacing the traditional blackboard. The interactive
whiteboard resources are replacing the traditional blackboard and flip
charts for data presentation whether in the classroom or in the
boardroom. This device consists of a whiteboard which has to be
connected to a computer. It can be connected through cables or through
wireless (Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz) and is installed in such a way that
it becomes part of the computer's hardware. The output is displayed
through a projector also on the computer. The need for the use of the
mouse and keyboard for the input of data and text has been eliminated.
All the necessary operations can be done on the whiteboard. A finger
or a digital pen can be used to operate as a mouse. There is also an
onscreen key board for typing in text. There are different types of
interactive whiteboard resources. The types depend on the method of
operation. Operation can be done with the use of a simple pointer or a
finger on a resistive touch based whiteboard. The touch of the pointer
of finger on the surface sends electronic signals and the action will
be identified as a left mouse click. There is an electromagnetic pen
based whiteboard which is more advanced than the resistive pen based
type. The pen passes a signal to the board when it is brought close to
the surface. The surface interacts with a coil in the pen to determine
position of the mouse pointer. The pen has both the left and right
mouse click function. This makes it more accurate in mirroring the
proper mouse.Other types of whiteboards include the portable
ultrasonic IR pen based and the Wiimote / IR based whose techniques
employ the IR camera and the Wii remote.
