Over half of anyone over 40 who smokes wants to quit but can't
figure out how. Many have tried multiple times but have not come near
success. Anyone could say they are going to quit but usually that
phase ends after a few days when they realize they cannot go a few
hours without a drag from a cigarette. There are many useful tactics
to quit smoking and here are the best of them:Never think about
smoking.Any time you think you want a cigarette; you're going to go
have one. When it pops into your mind, you feel the need for it. That
is the power of addiction. It's not your fault that you need a smoke,
but it's your fault for starting. Try thinking of anything other than
smoking.Stay away from other smokers. Most people who smoke will offer
someone else a drag of their cigarette. When you're attempting to
quit, being in areas where people are smoking is bad. Many people who
smoke and walk past a group of smokers will most likely join in.Take a
walk, clear your mind.Going for a nice relaxing walk always takes your
mind off things. Whenever you are craving a smoke and feel that you
cannot resist any longer, go for a stroll around the block. Take
twenty minutes to think of other things. The worst thing you can do it
stay around the house until you slip up and have one.Chew gum or
anything to keep your mouth occupied. It is natural for a smoker to
want a cigarette and it involves putting it in their mouth. If you are
chewing on anything like gum or a straw, you can trick your brain into
thinking you are having a smoke and hopefully the craving will go
away.
