The Christmas Season is with us once again! Hurrah for Christmas,
the time of year when we look forward to celebrating with family and
friends, enjoying the numerous Christmas parties, presents and a
lovely Christmas dinner! But! Getting ready for those Christmas parties
can also be the moment when we realise that the dress we wore to last
year's office do is a little bit more snug that it was last year, or
that the edges of our dinner jackets are unlikely to meet again
anytime soon. That sinking feeling takes over and we wonder how those
extra few pounds have managed to sneak up on us whilst changing into
something a size bigger and heading off to that party feeling a little
heavier of heart. The temptation is to crack on with Christmas and all
the indulgence it entails and resolve to do something about those
sneaky little pounds in the New Year. But hang on...wasn't that last
year's resolution too?Maybe you joined the gym last January only to
give up when the pounds didn't drop off in a matter of days? Those
sly little creeper pounds don't just vanish overnight though sadly.
They sneak up on us over the weeks and months and then take us by
surprise. They need tackling the right way. A quick fix solution
that is probably going to be difficult to follow, difficult to
maintain and will probably leave us feeling resentful of all the
things we can't have isn't the answer...it's just miserable! The truth
is that extra weight you're carrying is the result of the lifestyle
choices you have made and there are no magical transformation formulas
or pills that will see you dramatically lose weight in days.Recently I
have undertaken a number of Wellness Surveys where clients answered
questions on their lifestyle. The results of the survey show that a
high proportion of people are unhappy with their weight and that many
would often love to lose significant pounds. They feel unhappy with
their energy levels and recognise that their lifestyle is not good.
They have tried many diets (some I have never heard of!) without
success or with initial success only for their resolve to falter and
the old habits to kick in again. The surveys also showed that a large
percentage of people who embark on diets aren't actually serious about
making long lasting changes to their lifestyle. If you seek to lose
weight, have more energy and eat healthily it is not about the next
diet, it is all about changing your lifestyle, about changing your
habits. Will you see instant dramatic overnight results? The answer is
No.Will you see small changes that build day on day with the result
over time being the result you set out to achieve? The answer is
YES.You see, you have to do the right things over time. Remember those
creepy pounds? Well they appeared over time by doing the wrong things
and so it makes sense that it will take time doing the right things to
shift them!In everyday life we have got used to the pace of life
speeding up, faster and faster and now I'm telling you to take your
time. Oddly, taking more time over something can lead to the voice of
doubt popping up in our minds, offering up excuses why we shouldn't
try and make those changes...It's too difficult, there is so much
stuff about nutrition to learn! It's too expensive! Will I need
specialist ingredients for meals?I just don't have the time!I really
can't be bothered!Making lifestyle changes and altering our eating
habits are really only as difficult as we want to make them. Picture
how good you would feel wearing that gorgeous dress that you can't
wriggle into right now or that fantastic Italian suit you really like.
Wouldn't it be better to find out more rather than just accept how
things are and reaching for bar of chocolate to lift your flagging
energy levels? To make things even simpler to follow, I have worked on
a programme simply called EDNI.Easily Digestible Nutritional
Information, which can equip you with the help and support to start
making those vital lifestyle changes (and it needn't be complicated,
costly or boring!). If you would really like to make serious changes
to your weight, your energy levels and most importantly your
self-esteem LET'S TALK TURKEY!Simply email steve@beabrilliantyou.net
