This has got to be the worst thing that has happened to me in my
gaming history. I had invited all my friends over for a marathon
modern warfare session, so I thought I would get a little practice in
beforehand. About half an hour in to my practice, my PS3 stopped dead
in its tracks and I had the yellow light of death. Gutted.I
immediately went online trying to find some information on how to fix
my PlayStation 3, I found out that the yellow light means that my
console has suffered a general hardware failure. Many things can cause
this but there are a few things you can try to get your ps3 up and
running in no time at all. Here are some really useful pointers so I
thought I would share them all with you to help you get gaming as
quickly as possible. Thankfully I tried these ideas out and was back
playing within the hour. One of the major causes of the yellow light is
overheating, so keeping your ps3 cool should help, here's how.1. Make
sure your PS3 is not stored in a closed entertainment system or
something similar while switched on as this traps the heat and will
cause overheating. This effect is made greater if there are more
pieces of electronic equipment in the cupboard as well.2. Turning your
console off for approximately half an hour then switching back on
should let it cool down enough for you to have sorted out your
problem.3. When positioning your PS3 you should avoid placing it in
the corners of your room as these trap heat, and with the additional
heat that your console throws off this can be enough to cause
overheating.4. If you leave your console running for about an hour
then touch the sides and back, you may feel that one area is
considerably hotter than the rest, you should consider purchasing
fans. You can buy them at most game retailers and they are designed
for specific areas of your PS3.5. You can try positioning your console
near to an air conditioning unit if you have one. This is blowing cool
air through your home so let it cool your PlayStation 3 down too.6.
Another thing to try is if you have a cooling fan or pad for your
laptop, try sitting your PS3 on it or next to it. Doing this should
cool your console down enough to get you playing again quickly.7. If
nothing else works try changing your console's high definition setting
to low. The reason for this is that the high definition setting is on
of the major causes of overheating in your PlayStation 3. If turning
this setting to low does not seem to solve your yellow light problem
then you may need to disable this setting completely.
