Rape is categorically one of the most horrendous of crimes. No
woman, man or child is exempt from it's devastating long term effects.
Rape poses many immediate physical dangers such as being beaten or
even killed but we must also consider it's other disabling downsides.
There is of course the possibility of pregnancy and contracting some
type of sexually transmitted disease which is devastating in itself
but what about its psychological effects? Can we even imagine the long
term emotional hell that most victims go through as a result? It is my
sincere hope that none of you have to ever experience such a trauma in
your lifetime, this is why I spend so much time on the subject. I want
to provide you with every possible way to avoid such a scenario. In
some of my other articles I have discussed proven ways to escape the
grasp of a predator from behind, such as a "Bear Hug" which is a
common initial hold applied by these criminals to subdue you. Today, I
would also like to explain another very effective technique to gain
your release from the "Bear Hug" as well as a "Full Nelson" hold.
Believe me, you can easily master these moves with a little practice
with a partner, they can be the difference between you escaping and
you being part of another sad statistic.First, I want you to know that
the best time to try to make an escape is within the first few seconds
of the assault, you are of course less vulnerable when the rapist
doesn't have full physical control over you. Attempt to run away and
scream out loud "RAPE!"over and over. Now, lets discuss the move I
mentioned above: I want you to imagine being held from behind, with
the perpetrators arms wrapped around you. Your first move is to bend
your knees slightly, crouching down if possible and slide your left
leg to the left, a foot or so. Quickly now, take your right leg and
move it together with your left leg, you are now off of the
perpetrators center. You will then sweep your right leg all the way
behind him, placing your right leg behind both of his legs. This is
where you have the advantage of leverage! You can now push him back
with your right arm and he will be forced to lean backwards, you are
essentially throwing him off balance and tripping him over your own
leg at this point. You now may even be able to take your left hand,
grasp his pant leg and pull up. By pulling his left leg up he has no
ability to move. This sudden unbalance will more than likely cause him
to loosen his grip and you will find that you can move your right
forearm and fist enough to suddenly and forcefully strike him in the
groin which should be plainly exposed. The "coup de grace" so to
speak! When you practice this move with a partner, go through the
movement slowly at first then work your way up to being able to
perform it quickly. Remember, quickness is the key here to catch him
by surprize. If you perform it correctly you will see how really
effective this move can be regardless of his strength or size.
