The Hawthorns' will clock Premier League match time on Tuesday,
December 28, when West Brom host Blackburn, in match week 20.West
Brom's last home game came in match week 16 when they prevailed 3-1
over Newcastle. Incidentally, Albion's last win came 18 games ago, and
nearly three decades have elapsed since. Tchoyi put the Baggies ahead
on 32 minutes and Magpies' attempt to level the score through Taylor,
just after the break, was negated by Carson in the Albion goal.Carroll
and Ameobi met their match in the Baggies back-line on a day when
Albion were equally effective up front with Odemwingie closing out the
game on 71 minutes, and following it up with yet another late goal.
Magpies' consolation strike came in injury time, a case of too little,
too late.Blackburn lost out in a Lancashire derby, losing 2-1, in
their last away game to Bolton. Muamba got the hom team the lead on 65
minutes and the Ewood Park squad got an immediate equaliser through M
Diouff, but that was the last bit of good news for the Rovers who
failed to capitalise on a 10-man Bolton in the last half-hour, after
Mark Davies was sent off. In the event, Holden struck the winning goal
for the home team on 89 minutes and shut the door on Blackburn.Rovers
disappointed on the day, with patches of dominance in the second third
of the match. Barring a brilliant performance by Roberts, the
score-line could have been worse. Roberts who missed a scoring
opportunity in the first 60 seconds of the game had a hand in Diouff's
equaliser. Another scoring chance was missed when Roberts ran through
off a pass from Jones only to run into Zat Knight who won the
tackle. In 12 league games between the sides, Blackburn have
established a 4-2 lead over Albion with six games drawn. The last game
betweent he sides in May 2009 at Ewood park ended in a goalless
draw.Eleventh placed West Brom have won four of eight games hosted
this season, while losing and drawing two each. Twelfth placed
Blackburn have lost six of nine away games while winning just two and
drawing the one.West Brom had the following men in their starting
eleven against Aston Villa in match week 17: Carson, Jara, Scharner,
Tamas, Cech, Brunt, Dorrans, Tchoyi, Morrison, Thomas and Fortune.
Miller, Cox and Reid were used as substitutes.Blackburn had the
following men in their starting eleven against West Ham: Robinson,
Salgado, Nelsen, Samba, Givet, Emerton, Dunn, Pedersen, EH Diouf,
Roberts and MB Diouf. Jones, Hanley and Benjani featured as
substitutes.
