Revitalizing Your Work Environment Through Office Refurbishment

Two things have to come together to make office refurbishment
happen. First, the permission to do so, and second, the budget. Once
it is agreed that refurbishment is in order, and then you can have fun
with ideas, while working them into your budget. The first decision to
make is the degree of refurbishment. Is there to be remodeling
involved, or just a replacement of indoor plants and repaint job? What
type of refurbishment will the administrator allow? How the office is
redecorated depends on the type of atmosphere desired. Some offices
pride themselves on being a "fun" place at which to work, and carry
that over into the waiting area, allowing posters, photographs, etc.
Individual workers are allowed to decorate their own workspace,
cubicle, or office as they see fit. On the other hand, other office
administrations prefer the more traditional look of neutral walls, few
decorations, maybe some indoor greenery. In some office settings,
everyone is invited to take part in the decorating decisions, while in
others, the administration is solely responsible. Here are some
suggestions for general refurbishing. Colors chosen should either
blend together or complement each other. They should be light, yet
soothing to the eye. Darker paneling should be accented with brighter
contrasting wall decorations, such as prints, greenery sconces, etc.
Lighter or brighter colors give an impression of spaciousness and
openness to any area. Darker paneling is satisfactory when lighted by
large windows. If inhabiting a suite of offices, wall color should
carry over into the other rooms when possible. If replacing flooring, a
close pile indoor-outdoor will work nicely and be easy to maintain.
Try to stay away from plush shags and thicker more expensive makes if
the office is on the ground floor, receiving initial outdoor incoming
traffic. If the office space is currently the conference room style and
open, wall screens are wonderful for affording some privacy to workers
and defining public and private areas. These screens can be folded to
adjust to angles, or folded all the way to open up an area. Many
screens are upholstered, which serves as an area to display documents,
and also improves area acoustics.Lastly, one can never go wrong
decorating with plants and greenery. If choosing live plants, make
sure they can thrive in the lighting the office affords. Large potted
plants can be used to fill a corner area, or smaller pots can grace an
end table. Vases with artificial flowers and greenery with
complementary colored stones or marbles in the bottom can enliven
counter spaces or desks. Whatever you decide, you will enjoy the new
face-lift to your everyday workspace.
