Healthy Eating Program: 5 Unusual Tips to Turbocharge Any Healthy Eating Plan

Healthy eating program? It's tough unless you have these 5 unusual
tips to make it work for you.So what's so unusual about these tips?
It's because they apply tested psychological techniques to covertly
convince you to eat less and still feel satisfied. You've probably seen
many optical illusions where you're asked to guess which of two
objects is bigger. One of the objects is grouped with smaller objects,
the other with smaller objects. It looks like the one with larger
things around it is smaller, but it always turns out that the objects
you are asked to compare are the same size.It turns out that we judge
the size of something largely by how big it is in relation to things
close by. This is a very important phenomenon when you want to start a
healthy diet program. Because there is one simple thing you can do
that will make a tremendous difference. It's this simple: serve the
meal on small plates and people will eat less. Nine inch dinner plates
seem to work well. There's real scientific evidence to back this up.
Research scientists conducted an experiment where they let people eat
as much ice cream as they liked. But they gave people different sized
bowls and spoons. The result - everyone ate until they were happy but
the people with larger bowls and spoons ate almost twice as much ice
cream. It works with glasses, too. If you're serving anything to drink
other than water and you want to cut down or help other people cut
down, use tall, skinny glasses to serve beverages. People will drink
less because their eyes convince them that they're drinking more.Don't
believe it? Here's some proof... one study compared how much orange
juice adolescents at a diet and nutrition camp would pour into a tall,
narrow glass versus a short, wide glass. They poured 88% more into the
short, wide glass. So use tall, narrow glasses. Everyone will think
they drank more and... here's the key... be happy.Okay so far we have:
smaller plates, and drinks in tall, skinny glassesNutrition programs
to hone your weight...Depend on how you divide your plateBut wait,
there's more! You want to eat the right things in the right
proportion. This next tip is called Proportional Plate Planning and
here's how it works. We don't always have meat for dinner but when we
do, I serve the food onto our plates, one quarter of the plate meat
and one quarter starch - potatoes, rice or pasta, and half the plate
veggies. And then I bring only the salad and veggie serving dishes to
the table for seconds. Sometimes it's not possible to divide up foods
according to the categories. Like if we have burritos, it may be
everything in one serving. In that case, I just eyeball it and make
sure that at least half of what I serve is vegetables and no more than
a quarter of it is meat.So now you've got it all. Use proportional
plate planning to limit meat and starch on your plates when you serve
them in the kitchen, one quarter meat or other protein, and put the
food on smaller plates, and use tall skinny glasses. The pieces work
separately - you can pick and choose how you want to use them. The
more, the better.Hey, who doesn't want the perfect size and perfect
proportions...on their plate? But that's not all...
