Ways To Save On Van Insurance

A good working van is very important to most people, especially if
they are self employed, as without it, there is no possibility of
work. But once every year, the van insurance must be paid, and this is
usually not a very welcome bill to pay, although it is essential.
Insurance costs seem to escalate every year with no reprieve, but
there are things that insurance companies will take into
consideration, when quoting an insurance price, which could actually
reduce the amount paid for insurance. One way would be to increase the
voluntary excess, this would mean that in one hand, the excess charge
would increase, but the insurance quote would decrease. Ask the
insurance company what the costs would be if this were to happen,
there may be a saving to be made, and everybody is always after cheap
insurance.Adding extra locks to a van may also reduce insurance costs.
Have external locks fitted on the back and side doors, helping to
prevent theft from inside the van, upgrade the alarm system and have
an immobiliser fitted, and tell the insurance company of the extra
security measures that have been fitted. When applying for insurance,
always state any no claims bonus received, this does affect the price
of the insurance quote, and every year keep building up the no claims
bonus; this will reduce the costs dramatically.Always drive carefully.
Whilst driving, always stick to the speed limits and obey the road
signs. Points on a driving licence can add more costs to your van
insurance. Never drink and drive, it is illegal, and could result in a
driving ban, and once this is on the driving licence, the costs will
rise for insurance, and there is a risk of losing any no claims bonus,
even from a small accident, this includes the use of mobile phones
whilst driving.Parking the van in a driveway or garage overnight is
also a good way to reduce the cost of insurance quotes, if this is not
possible, a steering lock will help deter thieves, as will parking the
vehicle in an area which is well lit at night or has many people
walking past.It is possible to buy wheel clamps, these are excellent
devices to stop people driving off with the van, if the van is to be
left unguarded for a while, put on the clamp, again this will deter
thieves, meaning there are no insurance claims, a better no claims
bonus, and cheaper van insurance.
