Freedom Comes With A Price! But It Sure Pays!

On this 4th of July, I would like to reflect on the accomplishments
of leaders who have served and given their life in honor of this
country. Freedom is something that we often take for granted. It is a
human birthright, yet so many of us subject our freedom for society's
sake. Freedom does come with a high price but it's worth it. Let me
explain.Harriet Tubman, a runaway slave from Maryland, risked her life
to save her people from bondage. On every trip to the south, she knew
the risks but was willing to put her life on the line for what was
right. Between 1850 and 1858, she helped more than 300 slaves reach
freedom. Now that's what I call courage. Her freedom came with a very
high price (her head) but her courage lead her on. She is to be
honored on this day that our nation upholds its ideals and
values.Mahatma Ghandi (October 2nd,1869-January 30,1948) led the
movement for nonviolence freedom in India and was the preeminent
political and spiritual leader of India during the Indian independence
movement. He is to be honored on this day because he taught the world
that freedom can be achieved through peace. His leadership influenced
Martin Luther King Jr and led to the Civil Rights Movement in this
country. So what does all of this mean? It means that as an
entrepreneur your freedom comes with a price. The price does not mean
the threat of your physical life, but it does mean an ending of your
"comfortable" life. When you choose to be an entrepreneur, you are
choosing freedom. This means that friends and family may scoff you. It
means that you oftentimes may not be understood by colleagues and
associates. This can feel like a "death" because you are doing
something that 97% of the population is not doing. Just remember this
my friend...WITH FREEDOM COMES LIFE! You are a trailblazer, and if it
wasn't for Harriet Tubman or Mahatama Ghandi, we would not know the
freedoms that we know today. Continue to trail blaze as an
entrepreneur and realize that you are bringing change, not only to
your life, but to the lives of countless others who are looking for
inspiration. May freedom continue to be the highest principle that you
live by. Happy 4th of July!
